Nationwide Y4H2 Scholarship Outreach Workshop in Collaboration with Regional Governors and the Namibian Government
For Immediate Release:
Following the 2nd Call for Master’s degree and TVET Scholarship Applications under the Youth for Green Hydrogen (Y4H2) Programme for Namibian Youths. The Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) is thrilled to announce the commencement of an extensive outreach workshop, conducted in collaboration with the regional Governors and the Namibian government. This educational outreach workshop will span all 14 regions of Namibia and aims to promote and raise awareness about the 2nd Call for Master’s degree and TVET Scholarship Applications under the Y4H2 Scholarship Programme.
The Y4H2 Scholarship Programme, a collaboration between the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), and the Namibian Ministry of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation, offers a unique opportunity for Namibian youths to pursue their academic dreams and contribute to the development of sustainable, green hydrogen technologies.
During the launch of the 2nd call for Scholarship, Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Dr. Itah Kandjii-Murangi highlighted “Out of the partnership, about €5 million, (approx. N$100 million), was set aside for the Namibian Youth Green Hydrogen Scholarship Programme, which is fully funded by Germany’s Ministry of Education and Research.’’
SASSCAL has been appointed as the implementing partner for this initiative. It represents a significant step towards addressing climate change and fostering innovation in the green hydrogen sector, both of which are essential for the sustainable future of Namibia and the Southern African region as a whole.
The nationwide outreach workshop will take place from 18th to 30th September 2023. During this period, the SASSCAL staff will visit each of Namibia’s 14 regions to engage with local communities, educational institutions, and aspiring scholars under the guidance of Regional Governors. The workshops will provide valuable information on the scholarship application process, eligibility criteria, and the broader goals of the Y4H2 Programme.
“As we embark on this journey through Namibia’s diverse regions, we are excited to connect with Namibian youths who share our passion for green hydrogen and climate change adaptation. The Y4H2 Scholarship Programme represents an incredible opportunity for individuals to make a lasting impact on their communities and the environment,” said Dr Jane Olwoch, Executive Director of SASSCAL.
